Time in Texas for Book Signing

REFRESH

Hey ya'll! My daughter Barbara and I have returned home to Mississippi. We had a great time in Texas. There never is enough time to see everyone and everything no matter how much time is allowed.

The first day we arrived we made time to go to my favorite place (the beach) at sunset. Great idea. Unfortunately, the beach did not look like this, it was muddy, with the tide in and the caps numerous, but not beautiful. Not as it has been in the past. It was also very windy. Yet, I still found my place of peace, could smell the ocean air, and watch the clouds as they changed colors. I could feel the power and strength of the Creator.

I am so happy we took the time when we did because afterward everything was non- stop. Allowing for some personal time when we did, I was able to de-stress and be thankful for all of the beautiful things in my life, big and small. It was awesome to be back in Texas and visit all the good people that live there. God is good.

LUCY GOOSE MARKET

The venue of my book signing was the unique Lucy Goose Market in downtown Freeport, Texas. The owner, Marinell Magic, was so gracious to allow me to use her business to promote my book. It is a quaint shop and if you have not visited it yet, I suggest you make it a point to visit soon.

DOWN TO BUSINESS

The Book Signing itself was amazing! Pat, my best friend text that she had arrived early, hoping to visit. As I arrived, a beautiful friend from Facebook was waiting on the curb to greet and meet me (for the first time). She gave me a gift and truly surprised me. I was able to visit briefly with both of them before things started hopping. I felt so special that so many people attended the signing with it being graduation night and Memorial Day Weekend.

Gennie, my first Supervisor at Southwestern Bell attended. It was a great treat to see her after so many years. I was only 18 when I started at SWBT. She taught me an excellent work ethic that followed me into many wonderful and successful careers. Several friends that I had not seen since I moved from Freeport came to support me, along with many classmates, and other friends. I felt truly blessed. However, my heart was touched deeply by someone that began as a complete stranger. Her name is Stacie and her eyes let me see into her soul. She shared that my book truly touched her and both of us were emotional as we visited. When she left, I felt a kinship to her and I hope she felt the same. Touching people is why I wrote Broken Pieces to begin with. With many hugs and tears we departed after a successful event in my old hometown.

MY DAUGHTER IS THE BEST

There was a time not too many years ago that I could multi-task with the best of them. I could carry heavy objects and I could get up from a chair running. Not these days. That is why I am so thankful for my daughter Barbara McGough Mitchell. She has a "take charge" attitude and gets things done. I honestly do not know how I would manage without her. I cherish her as my daughter, friend, and assistant.

All in all, It was a great time. Several of us went out to eat after the signing. One thing that NEVER changes is the fact that we always have more to say, want more time together, and hate to say good-bye. So until next time....Happy Trails to You.....
