Christmas Traditions

Greetings to all of you! Can you believe it is Christmas again already??? The old saying of" the older you get the faster time passes by" is indeed true for me.

I love this time of year and everything that entails. I love the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. It is fun to watch people as they shop for that perfect gift and to listen to the children express their excitement. I also enjoy the music, the food, and all the visits with family and friends.

One of my absolute favorite traditions is the mailing and receiving of Christmas cards. It seems this tradition is not being followed much any longer. I believe that is partly due to the cost of postage and the introduction of the internet where we can send a note electronically. I enjoy picking out my Christmas cards each year. I used to complain about postage going up every year until I realized that Christmas is the only time I communicate with some of the people on my Christmas Card List. I came to the realization that the people are more than worth the cost of the card and postage.

As I address each card, I think of the person and family. I recall how they earned a spot on the treasured list. I say a little prayer for them as I sign the card, seal, apply return address label, and apply the stamp.

I am always so happy to receive cards from these same people. It is truly a personal and treasured tradition. I have even used some of the cards to make name tags for gifts the next year, this allows me an opportunity to enjoy the same card again.
