I can't imagine a ball game without a band to keep the spirit up and entertain the crowd. Football players entering the field and kick-off without the band would lack the excitement of the game.
The half-time show is always a treat.
The Fight Song always gets the crowd and team uplifted.
I wasn't in the band, but I have noticed that people that are/were have a certain comradery that seems to last a lifetime.
My experience with the band is through my granddaughter Macy. If you aren't aware the band works hard. They put in a lot of hours and strive for excellence. They are athletes in their own right. If one person has a misstep, it is noticed by all, putting a lot of pressure on them for excellence.
Besides the Marching Band, other bands include the Color Guard, Jazz, Percussion Ensemble, and Symphonic Bands. All enjoyable to listen to.
Some band recognition of the high schools I highlighted last week include:
Brazosport High School, Freeport, TX - in 2018 they placed 12th in the state in TMEA 4A Honor Band Contest
Angleton High School, Angleton, TX - 1973 marched in the Rose Bowl Parade
Kosciusko High School, Kosciusko, MS - 2016 KHS Big Red Band won the Gold Medal and title of 4A STATE Marching Champions.
Congratulations to all that participate in the band.
Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and playing for our enjoyment.
