I'm going to continue with the theme of movies that made an impression on me when I saw them for the first time and that I still find special or memorable.
INNOCENCE
Splendor in the Grass
I fell in love with Natalie Wood and Warren Beatty in this movie. I don't know how many times I have watched it since the first time, but it has been many at different ages and times of my life. I can't imagine any other actors playing their parts of Deanie and Bud in this movie and be able to do them justice. The movie is a time of innocence for two teenagers that are in love, the struggle to please their overbearing parents, and the price they paid. This movie introduced me to another type of mental illness. It is a raw and real movie of love interrupted. Proving that choices we make always carry consequences. Some of them made by others that can shape our lives in ways we never imagined. I hope you will watch this movie and give me your opinion.
POWER
The Godfather
This movie is based on the novel by Mario Puzo. It has a
totally different impact on the viewer. Just as Splendor in the Grass was well cast; I equally cannot see anyone different playing the individual characters in this movie. The Godfather was the first movie that showed me the "other side" of the world I live in. The power, the mob, the family, and the control at all costs. This movie has been regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. It is powerful. If you haven't seen it, you are missing out. How many times has the phrase "I will make him an offer he can't refuse?" been said. I would like your opinion on this movie as well.
